Activities

Lots to do for sailors and non-sailors alike!

Beaches - Hundreds and hundreds of them! Rent a windsurfer at one of the resorts or swap stories at a surfside bar. If solitude is what you want, make the first footprints in the sand of a deserted cay.

Anchorages - safe and quiet spots for dropping the hook, always off beautiful beaches, settlements and cays. Great sunsets, star gazing and sunrise's are yours each spot. Harbours that inspired Jimmy Buffett to write songs like "One Particular Harbor", will enchant you.

Snorkeling & Diving - If you're not into snorkeling already, one look at these waters will convince you to try. Clear water and abundant marine life extend throughout our entire cruising area, and several spots are famous for their diving. Snorkel gear is provided for your use. Experienced divers can get gear rentals, air fills and guided trips from dive shops in Marsh Harbour, Great Guana and Treasure Cay. Some of the more unusual tours include dives on Civil War era shipwrecks, and The Catacombs, a fantastic network of underwater caves.

Fishing - When it comes to fishing, it's definitely "better in the Bahamas." You can usually count on action to spare for all types of angling. Guides and charter boats are available for deep trolling, reef fishing, bonefishing and more. You don't really need anything fancy to catch your own dinner around here though. Just dangling a handline over the side of the dinghy can be a highly productive sport in these waters. Fishing equipment is provided for your use.

Golf and Tennis - If you'd like to spend some time ashore, try the 18-hole golf course or the tennis courts at Treasure Cay. Tennis courts are also available at Green Turtle Cay.

Dining & Meals - All meals are provided aboard from a menu that you help select. Deliciously prepared and served aboard with an ambience of paradise. There are numerous opportunity's for dining ashore on most cay's, and you may elect to do so at any time.

        The Area

Your adventure takes place in Marsh Harbour, Great Abaco Island, Bahamas. Friendly and accessible, the Abaco's are located 180 miles east of West Palm Beach, Florida. These Bahamian Out Islands are known as “The Family Islands”. The smaller islands surrounding Great Abaco are called “cays” (pronounced “keys”) and are known as one of the premier sailing destinations of the world.

The history of these islands is unique. The Spaniards were the first Europeans to explore the Abaco's, but the Lucayan Indians were native to the area and disappeared soon after the arrival of the Europeans. In the 1500s, the British colonized the larger Bahamas islands. During the 1700s, piracy prevailed in the area because it was well-suited to trade with its numerous coves, cays, and other small islands. The Abaco's became inhabited during the 1700s when settlers loyal to the British crown arrived from the United States.  Wrecking, a term used to describe the salvaging of ships that wrecked on the numerous reefs surrounding the Bahamas, became a major industry in the 1800s. The area abounds with stories of pirates, colonists, and wreckers, which give this area its natural flair for high adventure.

The Sea of Abaco is a body of water protected by the outlying islands and reefs. The third largest barrier reef is accessible by boat or just off of some of the Travel Channels top beaches in the world. Snorkel and swim in the pristine waters. Enjoy safe harbours and anchorages as we "island hop" inside the barrier reef and Out Islands here in the protected Sea of Abaco.  You will visit cays such as Great Guana, Man O War, and Green Turtle. Your sailing waters extend 60 miles, from Green Turtle Cay to Little Harbour, encompassing hundreds of square miles of sailing area. You're never out of sight of land as you sail from one island to the next.
